For the splash page (the full window image style), not possible at this time without making some theme modifications. This does give me some ideas to possibly create another front page (splash page) template that would let someone showcase a slideshow — full screen.

However, if your slider plugin has a widget, you can drop that or its shortcode into a text widget and then publish it to the “Banner” sidebar position. This won’t be a full-screen view, but it does go above your page content, but below the page title area. The other method, although not what you are wanting, is using a block. However, this only puts the slider right in your page content area.

Regarding that line…if you were to keep using this method, that line is part of the page title. You can make it go away by adding this code to the customizer’s Additional CSS tab:

.page-title-line {
    display: none;
}

I’m not sure if any of my info helps, but just to confirm, were you originally wanting the slider on the front (splash page) only, or have a slider on different posts or pages?
