Block WordPress Themes To Empower The New Block Editor

Block WordPress themes are here to stay with most if not all of the WordPress theme shops online. Rough Pixels will also focus on maintaining the design of Classic WordPress themes too! Both will be compatible for both the block and classic editors. Based on recent polling and research, there is still a strong market for Classic themes, therefore, why not combine the best of both worlds into each theme?

Block WordPress Themes

You may have heard about a new editor that the team at WordPress has been working on for a very long time. It’s called “Gutenberg” and will replace the existing classic version. You can expect to find this new editor as part of WordPress 5.0 which has been out for quite a while now since I first wrote this article.

Gutenberg editor plugin

What Gutenberg has in relation to Rough Pixels is that I decided to make every theme fully support this new editor. Of course, if you still plan to use the classic editor, my themes will still work with that as well. Incidentally, the classic editor will not be part of WordPress 5.0, so you will need to install the plugin for it. I recommend the Classic Editor plugin which currently has over 5 million active users!

The Goal of Rough Pixels

Since that, I’ve been designing themes for a long time (over 15 years now) and recently decided to embrace the Gutenberg block editor. The goal of Rough Pixels is to continue designing awesome themes that are easy to use without bloated code.

Unfortunately, this has been a chronic issue with many premium themes from marketplaces, so I will focus on keeping it simple.

The plan is to design free themes and then offer a premium (pro) version for each one. I may start with the premium version as an actual theme, but going pro will transition to become a plugin.

To reiterate, I will not be giving up on the classic editor for our themes, but building it alongside Gutenberg.

Do You Have an Editor Preference?

The best thing about our themes is that they are compatible with either editor. Your choice is important, so, whether you choose one over the other, we got you covered! In a nutshell, we have block WordPress themes and Classic WordPress themes as one.
