With Salal, you get a built-in post slider (an Owl Slider) that displays posts with their featured images from the category you choose. This slider ONLY shows on the front page of your website, so if you need a slider to show on other pages, you will have to create a child theme to change the code, or use a slider plugin.
In order for you to see slides, it’s very IMPORTANT to have your posts already created with featured images. You may want to consider setting up a separate blog category for adding a set of showcase posts. I would also recommend you use quality photos for your posts as well. If you don’t have any, check out Pixabay.com for a huge selection of photos and other media.
Go to Appearance >> Customize >> Theme Options >> Slider Settings
Start from the top by enabling the slider to show.
Next, choose the category you want to show slides from.
Decide how many slides (posts) to show (I recommend keeping the number low as the more you add, the more load time is needed for your front page).
Choose what slide elements (content) to show.
You can also change the slider background from the light blue to your choice of colour. Use the “Slider Background Colour” selector to make your changes.
Click “Save & Publish“.
